Base Rubber Shock Pad

The Base Rubber Shock Pad is a protective interface component placed directly beneath each adjustable pedestal in the Metal Planters terrace system. Measuring 150mm x 150mm x 3mm, this rubber shock pad sits between the pedestal base and the waterproof membrane, providing a cushioned barrier that prevents point loading damage, indentation, and abrasion to the membrane surface.

One rubber shock pad is required at every pedestal position across the terrace layout. The rubber shock pad is the first component placed during installation, positioned directly onto the waterproof membrane before the adjustable pedestal is set on top. This ensures the rubber shock pad is always in place to protect the membrane from the moment the pedestal system is loaded.

Without a rubber shock pad, the metal base of the adjustable pedestal would sit in direct contact with the waterproof membrane. Under the combined weight of the pedestal, rails, boards, planters, growing media, and foot traffic, this metal-to-membrane contact creates concentrated pressure points that can indent, abrade, and eventually puncture the waterproof membrane. A single membrane breach can lead to water ingress into the building structure below, resulting in costly damage and remedial work.

The rubber shock pad distributes the pedestal load across its full 150mm x 150mm surface area, significantly reducing the pressure per square millimetre on the membrane. The 3mm rubber thickness of the rubber shock pad also absorbs micro-movements and vibrations, preventing the pedestal from shifting or grinding against the membrane surface over time.

The rubber shock pad material is selected for long-term durability in outdoor conditions. It will not degrade, harden, crumble, or lose its cushioning properties when exposed to moisture, UV light, temperature fluctuations, or prolonged compression beneath loaded pedestals.
